How you apply a court fee waiver when e-filing—whether you already have one or are requesting one—varies from court to court. Click the tab below that corresponds to your state.
California courts use a few different e-filing management systems (EFMs), and each EFM has its own unique process for handling fee waivers. Please review the first two tabs to identify the correct instructions for your specific court.

California eFileCA Courts

2. Then click Payment Settings on the left menu.
3. Scroll to the eFileCA Courts panel on the Payment Settings screen (Letter A). Then click Add New Payment Method in that panel (Letter B). Then enter your information in the Add Payment Account Modal Popup (see below).

California Courts NOT using eFileCA
If you’re e-filing in a California court that is NOT part of eFileCA, you will not be able to use a waiver payment type. Instead, you will need to confirm the estimated fees are waived before submitting the filing to the court.
To do this, make sure the “Grand Total” of estimated fees shows as $0.00. Even with this zero total, the court’s e-filing system will still prompt you to select a saved payment method from your account to proceed with filing.
