Waiver Payment Accounts

Last Updated: May 9, 2025

How you apply a court fee waiver when e-filing—whether you already have one or are requesting one—varies from court to court. Click the tab below that corresponds to your state.

CALIFORNIA E-FILERS
California courts use a few different e-filing management systems (EFMs), and each EFM has its own unique process for handling fee waivers. Please review the first two tabs to identify the correct instructions for your specific court.

California eFileCA Courts

Courts that are part of Tyler Technologies’ eFileCA system utilize a specific “FEE WAIVER” payment type. When e-filing in these courts, you will need to select this “waiver” payment account as your payment method.

California Courts NOT using eFileCA

If you’re e-filing in a California court that is NOT part of eFileCA, you will not be able to use a waiver payment type. Instead, you will need to confirm the estimated fees are waived before submitting the filing to the court.

To do this, make sure the “Grand Total” of estimated fees shows as $0.00. Even with this zero total, the court’s e-filing system will still prompt you to select a saved payment method from your account to proceed with filing.
