While a filer may embed hyperlinks in documents, it is highly recommend one do so carefully—and at the filer’s own risk. Currently, no validation occurs within the Court’s system that rejects documents based on the fact that it contains hyperlinks. However, other problems may occur once the court accepts and file stamps the document including:
- File-stamped copies improperly formatted.
- External hyperlinks, or links to outside resource / web sites, in time wind up as dead links or no longer work.
- Internal hyperlinks, or links to other points or sections, within your document may not remain intact.
If hyperlinks aren’t necessary, don’t include them. If a filer must reference an outside resource, quoting and provided bibliographical information to the source.
